National Safety Month Events

Helmet Fitting – Kim Greene with the VVMC and Vail Mountain Safety are sponsoring a helmet fitting tent at the bottom of the One from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Martin Luther King weekend.  We would love to have ski school classes, kids and adults, come by and visit about helmets and safety on the mountain.  Kim Greene had a terrific idea – we will be having a raffle available to ski school instructors only for a gift certificate to Moe’s or a similar restaurant.  With support from the VVMC, we will have a drawing each day from the pool of instructors that brought their class to our tent that day.   Further, the VVMC has made available new helmets that will be given to guests who come by and make a donation of $20 or more.  We hope to see a lot of your folks stopping by for the three days.

Ski Registration with the Vail Police Department – Dwight Henninger, Vail’s Chief of Police, has once again made his personnel and paraphernalia available to Vail Mountain Safety so that we can register skis and boards with the Vail Police Department.  The Vail Police Department participates in a nationwide program to register and potentially find stolen skis all over the country.  Please suggest to your instructors and their guests that they come by our location in or near Henry’s Hut at the top of Lift 4 to register their skis and boards between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.  It will only take a few moments and we will have Vail Mountain Safety folks available giving safety messages.

Go Pro Raffle – We will continue to accept raffle registrations for a Go Pro to be given away at the end of the month.  Registration for the raffle will take place at the Top of Lift 4 at Henry’s Hut between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm each day.  Each registrant must be able to recite the seven steps of the Responsibility Code.  We are limiting this raffle to guests only.  This could be a great teaching moment for ski school classes, again both kids and adults.
