Eugene Hofacker Fundraising Event

Greetings Vail Ski & Snowboard School Instructors,

hofackerI hope your summer is going well and that you are enjoying plenty of off- season activities. One of the things that makes living in the Vail Valley so special is the deep sense of community we all share. Keeping in that tradition, we have an opportunity to help a very deserving member of our Ski & Snowboard School community.

Eugene Hofacker is a Colorado State Trooper here in the Eagle County. During the winter months when Eugene is not diligently serving and protecting the needs of the Valley’s residents and visitors, he teaches snowboarding at Golden Peak. Since 2003, Eugene has been an exemplary ambassador for the sport of snowboarding and for the Vail Ski & Snowboard School.

Eugene’s Story

While on-duty on May 8th 2014 Eugene stopped to assist a disabled motorist in Glenwood Canyon. The driver was combative and uncooperative. After multiple failed attempts by Eugene to placate the situation, the driver shot Eugene four times at close range. Thanks to heroic efforts by his fellow officers and the medical professionals at Valley View Hospital, Eugene has been able to partially recover from his wounds. Eugene could use our assistance with helping to cover medical and living expenses that would support his full recovery.
