Training Update, Season Kickoff, and Pro Sale

Vail Pros,

Winter is here, and the mountain opens in a week… are you ready?!

There’s lots going on at Vail, please take a few minutes to review the following information:

Season Kickoff

Vail Ski & Snowboard School’s Season Kickoff is just a two days away! Join your peers and launch the season at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday, November 16 in the Marriott. In order to attend Season Kickoff you must pass your background check and Fit to Ride, and complete your hiring paperwork. HR will be available at 8 a.m. at the Marriott to help you complete paperwork.

Season Kickoff Bonus – There will be extra staff at Vail Sports’ Arrabelle location following Kickoff. Bring your skis and get your equipment check done!

Pro Sale at Edwards Field House

The Vail & Beaver Creek Pro Sale is tomorrow, Saturday, November 15 at the Edwards Field House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go check it out and get some smoking deals on gear for the season!

Returning Instructor Training Update

Your training team has been hard at work updating clinics and getting everything prepped to help you achieve your goals for the 2014-15 season. This season you get paid for three hours of returning instructor training – either one on-snow or two indoor clinics. You can view the updated Returning Instructor Training information here. Before registering for clinics, have a conversation with your supervisor and align your training with your season’s goals.

Safety Quiz

You must complete the safety quiz BEFORE you can teach this season. The safety quiz will be available on The Lift 2-3 days after your start date (Kickoff attendance will count as your start date). You will receive an email prompting you to take the safety quiz once your account is active. Please contact your supervisor if you have any questions.

Work and Play All Winter – Don’t Lose Your Pass!

Everyone is eager to get back out and slide, especially with the recent snowfall. Please play it safe and keep it slow.  There is zero tolerance for closed terrain, speeding, and collisions.

Training Program Questions, Comments, Concerns?

How can our training program best support you and your career in snowsports education? As the new Manager of Training & Quality, I want to extend an open invitation for your thoughts on what we’re doing well, and what we can do better with Vail’s Ski and Snowboard School training. My door, phone line, and email are always open, or even better – grab me for a lift ride this winter.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to meeting and hopefully sliding with you all at some point this winter!

Let the snow fly,

Chris Rogers
