New Management Opportunities

New Management Opportunities

There are a number of new staffing changes and opportunities in Vail Ski & Snowboard School management:

In 1981, Gates Lloyd put on a uniform and began his ski instruction career at Sierra Blanca Ski Resort (now Ski Apache) in New Mexico. He moved north and joined the Vail Resorts’ team at Keystone in ‘87, and in the years since has worn many hats, including instructor, trainer, and manager positions at Keystone, Breckenridge, and Vail, as well as being a leader on PSIA’s Alpine Examiner staff. Gates played a key role in the 2013 restructuring of our school management team, and his positive impact on the development of Vail’s training program, leadership of Lionshead Adults program, and contributions to Vail Resorts has been tremendous.

As such, it is with both great pride and a great sense of loss, that we congratulate Gates on his new job as the Director of Snowsports at Arapahoe Basin.

Kolby Knox made the decision to go back to “blue” for 2015-16. This change will better enable Kolby to continue his rise through the ranks of PSIA-RM, and will free-up more time for him to inspire our staff with his exceptional skiing, clinic leading, and instructional talents. Thanks for your years of service in “red,” Kolby!

As many of you know, Nat Hammerli got married in May. After 2 years as the Snowboard Training Manager, Nat is spending the winter in Louisiana with Jessica, but will visit us and put on a blue uniform to teach and lead some training. Nat has played an instrumental role in continuing the development of Vail’s snowboard training program, and we wish him well in his new endeavors.

Andres Moreda Bach accepted the assistant manager’s position with Vail Resorts Retail at Keystone Resort.  Andreas embraced our products, culture and mission, he inspired others and truly created an opportunity for an “Experience of a Lifetime” for our guests and employees.  We wish him great success in his new position.
